This spectacular All Star jersey originated directly from our purchase of Steve Shutt’s personal collection back in 2003. A letter from Mr. Shutt will accompany your purchase.
This home white mesh gamer by Cosby was worn by Steve Shutt during the 1981 NHL All Star game. Shutt enjoyed a storied career that spanned 13 seasons, all but one partial year being spent with the Montreal Canadiens. Shutt was the 4th overall selection in the 1972 NHL Amatuer Draft and joined the Canadiens in 1972-73, where he won his first of 5 Stanley Cup Rings. Shutt spent the majority of his career on the Left Wing playing alongside NHL legend Guy Lafleur. Together the two dominated and helped the late 1970’s Canadiens teams to dynasty status. Shutt netted 424 goals and 817 points in a 930 game career. His single season best came in 1976-77, when Shutt registered 60 goals becoming one of the first players in NHL history to accomplish that feat. Shutt was 3-times a 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star and played in numerous NHL All Sar games. He was also a key figure on the victorious 1976 Canada Cup team while representing Team Canada.
Sewn perfectly into the collar of this gamer are the Cosby, wash and size tagging. The game wear on this sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer and inner pilling, pretty nice for a 1-gamer and a testament to what hockey was like back in the day. According to Steve, this was the only All Star jersey that he wore during the 1981 All Star game, which was in fact the last All Star game of his Hall of Fame career.
