This road black heavy mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Paul Gardner during the 1981-82 NHL season. The Kansas City Scouts selected Gardner 11th overall in the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft. He began his NHL career with the Colorado Rockies in 1976-77 and spent 3 years with the club before a deadline deal in 1978-79 sent him to the Maple Leafs. Paul played parts of two years in Toronto and then began a 4-year stint with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Gardner finished up his 10-year NHL career with short stays in Washington and Buffalo. He was an accomplished goal scorer who, despite missing significant time on many occasions due to injury, still managed to score 30 goals or better 4 different times. Following his NHL days, Gardner starred in the AHL where he was 2-times a 1st Team AHL All Star, won the scoring title in 1985 and 1986 and was named the AHL’s Most Valuable Player in 1985 and 1986.
The game wear on this heavy mesh sweater by Sandow SK is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and 4 team-sewn repairs. A nice old-school black and gold gamer that was donned by one of the team’s best scoring threats as he tabbed a career high 36 goals in only 59 games played!
