This amazing Rockies jersey was part of the Ken “Hammered Hockey” Mace Collection. We will be donating a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of this sweater to the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society both in support of Ken and to help aid in the fight against Blood Cancers.
This road blue knit gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Dave Cameron during the 1981-82 NHL season, his rookie year. The New York Islanders selected Cameron in the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. Cameron made his NHL debut with the Colorado Rockies in 1981-82. He moved with the franchise to New Jersey the following season and wrapped up his NHL career in 1983-84. Following his playing days, Dave joined the coaching ranks. He has spent the past 15+ years as a Head Coach, working behind the benches for the Detroit Falcons, the Port Huron Border Cats, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors, the Binghamton Senators and the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors.
Worn during the Rockies final year in existence, these heavy Sandow knits reign supreme in collecting circles. This example is simply stunning with tremendous eye appeal, vibrant colors and solid game use. Sewn into the collar are the Sandow SK and wash instruction tagging. The game wear on this sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, abrasions, inner pilling and a dozen team-sewn repairs including eight that are of the material backed variety. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Cameron wearing this exact jersey during his rookie season in what was the last for the Rockies franchise. Considered the penultimate jersey for Rockies collectors and a prize that would enhance any collection of vintage or defunct gamers, choice!
It comes as no surprise that this year Colorado Rockies jersey has solid game wear, as it was part of the Ken “Hammered Hockey” Mace Collection.
