This road red knit gamer by Maska was worn by Guy Lapointe during the 1980-81 NHL season. Lapointe formed the most fearsome defensive corp in the history of the sport while playing alongside Serge Savard and Larry Robinson. This trio anchored the Montreal blueline through the decade of the 1970’s.
Lapointe spent over a dozen seasons wearing the Canadien’s colors and won 6 Stanley Cups for his efforts. Playing during the golden era for defenseman made individual awards tougher to come by. With the likes of Orr, Potvin, Robinson, Park, Savard and Salming competing for those precious 1st and 2nd Team NHL All Star selections, Guy managed to accumulate 4 of them during the mid 1970’s. He netted double digit goal totals in his first nine full seasons with the squad, a career high of 28 coming in the 1974-75 season. Guy represented Team Canada in the 1972 Summit Series and the 1976 Canada Cup. Lapointe played in 4 NHL All Star games and also represented Team NHL in the 1979 Challenge Cup against the Russians. In 1993 Lapointe took his place among the all-time greats as he was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
