This home white dureen gamer by Rawlings was worn by Pierre Jarry circa the 1976-77 NHL season. The New York Rangers selected Jarry in the 1st round of the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft. After leading the CHL in scoring and achieving 1st Team All Star status as a member of the Omaha Knights in 1970-71, he joined the New York Rangers in 1971-72 and spent a partial year with them before a trade sent him to the Maple Leafs in the midst of the 1971-72 season. Pierre spent parts of 3 years playing in Toronto before he joined the Detroit Red Wings. After 2 years in the Motor City, Jarry joined the Minnesota North Stars in 1975-76. He spent 3 years with the North Stars before a deal late in the 1977-78 season sent him to Edmonton of the WHA where, after 18 games and a series of recurring injuries, he retired from the sport. Jarry spent 115 games in a North Stars uniform over 3 seasons, missing plenty of time due to those injuries. During that time he was a productive offensive player as he lit the lamp 38 times and scored 86 points.
Offered here is Jarry’s home sweater circa the 1976-77 season. Perfectly sewn into the collar of this gamer is the Rawlings tag. The game wear on this vintage dureen is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, washed out bloodstains, fine inner pilling and a team-sewn repair. Worthy of mention is a custom vintage fight strap and the lack of any runs in the dureen! The Stars have reattached the beautiful heavy cloth style nameplate, a commonality from the NHL’s pre-mandated nameplate era. The North Stars only wore this double striped jersey style for a mere few seasons in the mid 1970’s, and as such, collectors have coveted them for as long as we can remember. A tremendous offering of a really tough to find 1970’s era dureen, choice!
