This home white dureen gamer by Wilson was worn by Bill Nyrop during the 1975-76 NHL season. This Washington, DC native spent 4 years playing for Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish before joining the pro ranks. He would join the powerful Montreal franchise just as the team was about to embark on a historic dynasty. The Habs would win 4 straight Stanley Cup titles and Nyrop was with them for the first 3. Following the 3rd Stanley Cup, Nyrop took a page from teammate Ken Dryden’s book and left the NHL to study law in his new home of Minnesota.
A few seasons later Bill rejoined the NHL for a season as a member of the North Stars. About a decade later after guiding the West Palm Beach franchise of the Sunshine Hockey League to 3 straight titles, Nyrop learned that he had inoperable Cancer. He sadly passed away a few months later.
This spectacular rookie jersey was worn during the Canadiens 1st Stanley Cup season of the 1970’s dynasty. Bill was called up and played in 19 regular season contests, going +21, and then another 13 Stanley Cup playoff games en route to the title. Removed from the shoulders are the 1976 Montreal Olympic patches. Game wear consists of some heavy stick and slash marks, board burns, recognizable Montreal Forum board paint transfer and inner pilling. A custom fight strap is also found sewn inside beneath the back player number. A fine looking gamer from the beginning of the Habs 1970’s dynasty.
