This road green dureen gamer by Rawlings and Steichens was worn by Barry Gibbs during the 1974-75 NHL season. The Boston Bruins selected Gibbs with the 1st overall pick in the 1966 NHL Amateur Draft. After parts of 2 years with Boston, Barry joined the Minnesota North Stars in 1969-70 and remained with the club into the 1974-75 season. He then joined the Atlanta Flames and spent parts of the next 4 years with them before a deal sent him to the St. Louis Blues. After a couple of seasons with St. Louis, Barry finished his NHL career in Los Angeles with the Kings. Gibbs came to Minnesota in 1969 and played with quite an edge, racking up 442 PIMS in his first 3 years, which spanned just 199 games. Gibbs toned things down after that and played himself to All Star status in 1973.
Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the Steichens tag. Sewn into the hem is the Rawlings tag. Removed from the left breast is the alternate Captain’s “A”. Removed from the back is the player name, which had been applied in individually sewn on letters. The game wear on this dureen consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, pilling that is evident throughout the inside and more than a handful of team-sewn repairs. A nice vintage defunct dureen that was worn by Gibbs during his last NHL season in Minnesota.
