1973-74 Alain Beaule Quebec Nordiques Game Worn Jersey
Lot #97

The Quebec Nordiques were one of the original 12 WHA teams to begin play in 1972-73. They would prove to be one of the most financially successful WHA franchise’s, surviving the 7-year existence of the league and eventually merging into the NHL for 1979-80. Afterall, the fans in Quebec had waited over a half century for pro hockey to return to their town. The Nordiques would make the final round of the Avco World Finals two times and they emerged victorious in 1976-77.

This road blue dureen gamer by Maska was worn by Alain Beaule during the 1973-74 WHA season. Beaule was a defenseman who began his professional career with the Nordiques in 1973-74. His career would be short lived, playing a season and a half for the Nords before moving onto the Winnipeg Jets during his 2nd and last ever season in the WHA.

Sewn in the collar of this spectacular red, white and blue dureen is the Maska manufacturer’s tag. The game use consists of stick marks, board burns, inner pilling, un-repaired holes and masssive team-sewn repair on the right sleeve. Worthy of mention is that the stitching on a small section of the left sleeve number has loosened slightly. This style was worn in road games by the Nordiques for only one season making them quite rare in collecting circles. This beautiful 1-year style was worn during the league’s 2nd ever season and is one of the very few known examples to have survived the last 35 years with its all-original nameplate intact.
