This road blue dureen gamer by Rawlings was worn by Garry Unger during the 1972-73 NHL season. Unger was hockey’s best known “Iron Man”, playing in 914 consecutive games between 1967-68 and 1979-80. Despite having played for six teams in his career, Garry is best known for wearing the St. Louis Blues uniform. He spent parts of nine seasons with St. Louis and never missed a game. Garry was at his best as a Blue, making 7 consecutive NHL All Star game appearances spanning 1971-72 thru 1977-78. He scored 30 or more goals in each of his seasons in St. Louis. All told Unger scored 413 goals and 804 points in his 16-year NHL career.
Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. This stunning blue dureen was worn by Garry during his finest goal scoring season in St. Louis. The 1972-73 season saw Unger net 41 goals, surpassing the 40-goal mark for the only time in his St. Louis Blues career while wearing this sweater. The length on this dureen has been custom shortened by about an inch to better fit Unger’s frame. The game use consists of stick marks, board burns and inner pilling. This is a fine vintage example worn by the face of the franchise.
