This road orange dureen gamer by Pearson Sporting Goods and General Athletic was worn by Garry Peters during the 1970-71 NHL season. Peters began his NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1964-65. After a lone season with Les Habitants, Peters joined the New York Rangers where he played for a single season. A year later it was back to Montreal for Peters in the final season before the NHL expanded from its Original 6 Teams. After the expansion, Peters joined the newly formed Philadelphia Flyers franchise and spent 4 seasons in the City of Brotherly Love. In 1971-72, Peters joined the Boston Bruins and won his first and only Stanley Cup. When the WHA opened shop, Peters joined the New York Raiders and then remained with the team for 2 seasons through their struggles, as they became the New York Golden Blades and then the New Jersey Knights.
Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. Sewn perfectly into the collar are the Pearson Sporting Goods and size 46 tag. The faded general Athletic tag is sewn perfectly into the hem. The game wear on this vintage v-necked dureen consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. This all-original example is quite a sight to behold for the old school enthusiasts. Vintage post expansion Flyers dureens are among the hobbies true rarities. We can thank the existence of this amazing jersey to a former Philadelphia 76ers employee who obtained it while working for the Sixers back in the days of the old Spectrum. This example, complete with letter of honor, has remained in tremendous condition over the past 40 years since leaving the ice and would take an immediate premier place on any Flyers or vintage collectors Wall of Fame, choice!
