This stunning home red wool gamer was worn by Jimmy Roberts during the 1966-67 NHL season. Roberts began his NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1963-64. He played for Montreal for 4 years before the St. Louis Blues claimed him with their first pick in the expansion draft. Jimmy then spent 5 seasons representing the city of St. Louis, before a deal mid way thru the 1971-72 season sent him back to Montreal. He spent the next 6 years back in Montreal and then played one final NHL season with St. Louis in 1977-78. During his career, Roberts was the winner of 5 Stanley Cups. Jimmy was a 3-time NHL All Star who went on to a successful coaching career following his playing days.
Offered here is Jimmy’s home gamer from the final year of the NHL’s Original 6 era. There is fine game wear on this vintage wool with loads of pilling found throughout, some burns and a team-sewn repair on the elbow. Most importantly of all is the fabulous condition of this specimen, having been impeccably preserved through the past 45 years. Also worthy of mention is the original tie string that resides sewn through the eyelits.
