Description
1961-63 Dick Matiussi/Murray Davison Cleveland Barons Game Worn Jersey
Lot #145

This royal blue dureen tie down gamer by Newman Stern was worn during the 1961-62 and or the 1962-63 AHL seasons. In 1961-62 Murray Davison wears # 5 while in 1962-63, Dick Mattiussi joins the team and wears # 5. Mattiussi of course would later join the post expansion NHL, playing in front of the Pittsburgh and Oakland hometown fans.

This rarely seen 2-year style was worn nearly 50 years ago and has weathered the last half century. The 1961-62 AHL season saw Cleveland unveil the lovable Barons head crest. The original tie lace remains sewn through the eyelits. The Cleveland based Newman Stern manufacturer’s and size tagging remains sewn in the collar.

The team trainer was kept quite bust with his needle and threrad on this gamer. From the frugal era of 1 jersey until it falls off the players back, this example has been through the hard fought minor league wars. There are un-repaired and reopened previously repaired holes on both the body and sleeves. Team sewn repair work can readily be found on the front, back and both sleeves of this vintage offering. The game use points to this jersey having been worn during both the 1961-62 and 1962-63 AHL seasons. A great opportunity to acquire this rarely seen 2-year style.
